Roofing Problems We See Most in Westerly
Westerly sits on the open ocean side of Rhode Island, and roofs here take the state's hardest wind. There is no bay and no landmass slowing a storm before it reaches the shoreline.
Salt spray reaches further inland than most owners expect. It corrodes fasteners, eats at flashing and shortens the life of anything metal on the roof, including the drip edge and the vent collars.
Seasonal properties add a timing problem. A leak that starts in November on a closed up Westerly house is not discovered until spring, and by then the damage is in the deck and the insulation.
