Gutter Problems We See Most in Providence
Older Providence housing often has built in gutters, formed into the cornice rather than hung on the fascia. When those fail, water goes straight into the wall instead of over the edge.
Triple deckers add height. A three story downspout carries a lot of water at speed, and the elbow at the bottom takes the beating. Split seams at that joint are common.
Then there is nowhere to put the water. Lots are narrow, and a downspout that discharges at the corner sends water toward a neighbor foundation or a city sidewalk.
